Australian Rock Pioneers the Little River Band Are Coming to HOME Bar February 13, 2013

The Little River Band was one of Australia’s first rock groups to conquer American airwaves with hit tracks like “Reminiscing” and “Lady.” They broke records by having six singles in a row chart in the Top 10 of the Billboard Charts and have sold over 30 million albums around the world. Now you have the chance to see this classic rock band in action at the House of Music & Entertainment in Arlington Heights on February 13th.

History of the Little River Band
The Little River Band was essentially a supergroup taking members from popular Australian bands such as Mississippi, The Twilights, Zoot, and Allison Gros. Most of the original members were living abroad in London, but decided to return to Melbourne in 1975 with the intention of starting a new group. They took their name after Glenn Shorrock spotted the signpost for the town of Little River.

In only eight months after forming the band, the group released two albums that made it into the Australian Top 10, which spawned three hit singles that landed in the Top 20. After conquering Australian charts, the Little River Band decided to put their sights on America. With the help of a Florida DJ in Jacksonville who launched their single “It’s a Long Way There,” the Little River Band were on their way to dominating the American radio charts.

Between 1978 and 1981, the Little River Band were everywhere with a string of hit singles including “Reminiscing.” Frank Sinatra said it was the best song from the ‘70s and it was said to even be a favorite of John Lennon.
